Our Primary Work Groups support schools with developing and sustaining effective teaching and learning in maths through a Teaching for Mastery approach.

If your school is ready to begin its mastery journey, apply to be a part of a new Work Group starting this autumn term.
For the 2025/26 academic year, the programme has evolved: the introductory phase now runs over two years, giving schools time to build a strong foundation for long-term change. This programme will focus on the Five Catalysts of Change and introduce the Five Big Ideas of Teaching for Mastery.
What is involved?
Each participating school selects two teachers to join a local Work Group, led by an experienced Primary Mastery Specialist. Together with teachers from other local schools, they will:

What is the cost?
The Introductory Teaching for Mastery Work Groups are fully funded by the Maths Hubs Programme so provided completely free to participating state-funded schools.
