Welcome to the SOLENT MATHS HUB
One of our core values at the Solent Maths Hub is collaboration. All Work Groups involve schools and teachers working together from across the region. We recognise the importance of teachers meeting to discuss core aspects of effective mathematical pedagogy.
Research is at the heart of all our Maths Hub programmes. The Teaching for Mastery approach builds on research developed across the last 5 decades that provides an insight into the effective teaching of mathematics. The action research model is used with our Work Groups through the use of lesson study, intersessional tasks and a cycle of implementation.
The Maths Hub model is based on a model of school to school support. All our Work Groups and programmes include an element of support. This may be through schools visits, peer support within the network or facilitation by an experienced practitioner.
As a Maths Hub, we aim to ensure that we provide innovative Work Groups to meet our local need both through the national network of Maths Hubs and the local network of stakeholders.
