The Solent Maths Hub is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Secondary Assistant Maths Hub Lead (SAMHL), with a passion for mathematics education, to join our team.

We are part of a nationwide network, supported by the Department for Education, committed to improving maths education for all students. Through collaboration and innovation, we strive to achieve excellence in maths teaching and learning, fostering a future where every student can succeed in mathematics.
Role Overview
As the SAMHL and member of the hub leadership team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of maths education within our region. Your expertise will guide the strategic development of our Local Leaders in Maths Education (LLME) community. The role is one day a week, with funding of £8,000 for the academic year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management: Lead the strategic planning for secondary networks across the hub
- Professional Development: Design and deliver high-quality professional development sessions for maths teachers and leaders, driving forward the equity agenda
- Collaboration and Support: Work closely with senior leadership teams, Mastery Specialists, and other stakeholders to foster a collaborative approach to maths education improvement
- Innovation and Best Practices: Stay abreast of the latest research and developments in maths education and oracy, integrating innovative practices and resources into the programme
- Evaluation and Impact: Monitor and evaluate the impact of the secondary programme and report on progress to key stakeholders
What we are looking for:
- A deep, subject-specific knowledge of mathematics education
- Proven experience in leading successful educational initiatives and professional development in maths
- A strong understanding of the Teaching for Mastery approach and its application within the UK educational context
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others
- A commitment to continuous professional learning and development
- A strong communicator, capable of expressing ideas clearly and actively listening to others
- Highly organised, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- A team player, enthusiastic about collaborating with others to achieve common goals
