Due to the government's 'Best Start in Life' initiative, the Solent Maths Hub have the opportunity to recruit a new EYFS Assistant Maths Hub Lead for 2026/27. We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated leader, with a passion for mathematics education and a commitment to excellence, to join our team. This pivotal role focusses on leadership, and development of the Teaching for Mastery approaches.
We are part of a nationwide network, supported by the Department for Education, committed to improving maths education for all students. Through collaboration and innovation, we strive to achieve excellence in maths teaching and learning, fostering a future where every student can succeed in mathematics.
As an Assistant Maths Hub Lead specialising in Early Years, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of maths education within our region. Your expertise will guide the strategic development and implementation of the mastery approach, creating a profound and lasting impact on teachers and learners alike. We expect this funded role to be approximately 20 days commitment away from school, but this will be discussed in more detail with applicants based on their experience and skill set.
Leadership and Management: Support the primary team in the strategic planning and delivery of the Teaching for Mastery programmes for EYFS
Professional Development: Design and deliver high-quality professional development sessions for maths teachers and leaders, driving forward the mastery agenda
Collaboration and Support: Work closely with EYFS colleagues, Mastery Specialists, and other stakeholders to foster a collaborative approach to maths education improvement
Innovation and Best Practices: Stay abreast of the latest research and developments in maths education, integrating innovative practices and resources into the programme
Evaluation and Impact: Monitor and evaluate the impact of the mastery programme, contributing to the hub's overall strategy and reporting on progress to key stakeholders
A deep, subject-specific knowledge of maths education, with a particular focus on EYFS
Proven experience in leading successful educational initiatives and professional development in maths
A strong understanding of the Teaching for Mastery approach and its application within the UK educational context
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others
A commitment to continuous professional learning and development
A strong communicator, capable of expressing ideas clearly and actively listening to others
Highly organised, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
A team player, enthusiastic about collaborating with others to achieve common goals
